About Cayón
Galería Cayón opened in 2005 in Madrid, having since expanded to four locations, two in Madrid, one in Menorca and one in Manila. Since the beginning, the gallery has been emphasizing spatial relations in art by focusing on Minimalism, Neo-Conceptual Art, Geometry & Neo-Geometry, not excluding video or performance; and continuously building relations between established and emerging artists whilst creating unprecedented dialogues related to public spaces and visual perception.
Represented artists include Enrico Castellani, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Philippe Decrauzat, Anoka Faruqee & David Driscoll, Alfonso Fratteggiani Bianchi, Juan Giralt, Julio González, José Guerrero, Dan Graham, Herminio, Joan Hernández Pijuan, Minjung Kim, Yves Klein, Marco Maggi, Mitsuo Miura, Pablo Palazuelo, Fred Sandback, Joel Shapiro, Jesús Rafael Soto, Al Taylor, Bernar Venet, Stanley Whitney, and Fernando Zóbel.
For the 2023 edition of Art Philippines, Cayón is delighted to present a curated Solo Show by artist Fernando Zóbel.
Throughout Fernando Zobel’s artistic career since the 50’s all the way to the 80’s, the artistic element of the line has remained, arguably, a major constant and remarkable trace in the artist’s body of work.
The line, presented in alternating media across his periods - from ink, oil, and pencil - seems to have been a unifying core, not only for his style but for the actual paintings, granting them structure, perspective, and leading to that unique balance and order that the artist incessantly searched for: a harmony between the idea, the realization, and the end result.
Cayón’s proposal will present four to five works ranging from different periods all across the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s circling around that chosen subject.
